- Ekspressive portrætter
This semester we have been working mostly with acrylics and portraits. We also visited Venice to get some inspiration for our own art.
Ekspressive portrætter i akryl og neocolor
We started the semester working with portraits and photographs. We talked in pairs telling each other about ourselves, what it was like being people, who we were, what we did every day. We then took photos of each other which we printed in black and white. We then used key words from what the other said and used color to describe them.
I used faver krit for one picture creating a vibrant energetic portrait using mostly the warm colors red, orange and yellow. I then use a complementary color for the background - purple with some blue and black.
For the other portrait I used acrylic paint and used warm earthy colors to give a calm relaxed feeling to the picture. I mostly used shades of brown and green.
Portrætmaleri efter foto - den "sorte" tone
The first thing I worked on was mixing my own black and painting a black and white self-portrait. I chose a photo to copy and turned it white and black in Photoshop.
I, then, mixed the black to practice and came up with a green-black. I did one coat and then had to make more black. The second time I made a brown-black so decide to paint over everything. I used white, light brown-gray, dark brown-gray, and brown-black.
Varmt og koldt. Malerbunde og farvekridt.
I first did some mono printing with acrylic paint on a mirror to make a background for my portraits. I randomly brushed colors in the shape of a face with hair and then some background colors. When trying to choose which backgrounds I would use for the cold and warm crayon portraits I had a difficult time because I had mixed both cold and warm colors on every background. I finally chose 2 and tried to work with them. It was very difficult to color on top of the acrylic paint because it was not smooth. I could not make a smooth finish on either of the pictures.
Paraphrase og portræt i akryl
Paraphrasing can be done in 3 different ways: 1) formal paraphrase, where you change the shape and color; 2) content paraphrase, where the content is thematized; 3) style paraphrase, where paraphrase both the form and content. In my picture I chose to do a style paraphrase and change the shape as well as the content. I changed a woman pilot, from WW2, into a modern woman.
I started with a brain storm to decide what to change and then drew a few sketches before finalizing what I wanted to do.
